A Wichita 45-year-old man wanted for a June 6th shooting was arrested in Norman, Oklahoma.
Official did not specify when Jeremi Mothershed was taken into custody.
The shooting happened around just before 3 p.m. near 18th and Chautauqua and a 28-year-old man was critically injured. Police said before the victim was shot, he was walking in the area when he got into an argument with Mothershed, who was driving. Mothershed then produced a handgun and fired shots.
Detectives obtained the suspect’s vehicle tag and learned he was driving south toward the Oklahoma border. The Norman Police Department found the vehicle matching a description and arrested Mothershed, who was armed with a handgun. He was booked into jail in Norman on unrelated charges.
Wichita police entered the gun into a database and found it matched the one used in the shooting. Mothershed was charged with one count of felon in possession of a firearm and one count of aggravated battery. He remains in Oklahoma awaiting extradition to Wichita.
