UPDATE 6/21/23 5:40 P.M: 

A tenant at Towne West Square mall reported receiving an email from the mall’s management company, Kohan Investment Group, explaining that Evergy received payment in-full on its delinquent electric bill.

UPDATE 6/21/23:

Evergy announced Tuesday evening that it has agreed to extend Towne West Mall’s electric service at least for another day.

Officials said they are continuing to work with the mall’s owners, Kohan Investment Group, to continue service for the benefit of their tenants. Evergy has paused service disconnection based on documentation provided toward making payment Wednesday.

Evergy officials saying that Towne West Mall has until the close of business on Tuesday, June 20th to pay its electric bill or it will face service interruption.

Evergy said the mall has been delinquent on its electric bill since November, 2022. Officials said it has been attempting to work with the owners of the mall, but no payments have been received.

Officials did say that some of the larger stores that have external entrances have accounts in good standing, and that service to those stores will not be interrupted by a service disconnection.
