A line of severe thunderstorms moved through south central Kansas late Saturday night, bringing winds of 60 to 70 miles an hour and touching off tornado warnings when radar indicated rotation in some of the storms.  There were no confirmed reports of any tornadoes.

The storms moved through the area around 10 p.m.   Eisenhower National Airport had a wind gust of 71 miles an hour, with a 62 mile-an-hour gust reported east of Bel Aire.

Tornado warnings were issued for parts of Sedgwick, Harvey and Butler counties when National Weather Service radar indicated rotation.    No tornadoes were confirmed and the main threat from the storms was straight-line winds.

Evergy reported around 6,000 customers without power late Saturday night as the winds brought down power lines.  Most of the outages were in west Wichita but there were scattered outages throughout the Wichita area.   Sedgwick County Emergency Management reported power lines down and large tree limbs down in the roadway in the 6100 block of East Douglas. As of 7am Sunday morning, there were still some 1,5000 customers without power in the Wichita area.

There were numerous reports of street flooding and large limbs down in Sedgwick County. In Liberal, the structure covering the pumps at the Love’s gas station was severely damaged by the strong winds. Baseball-sized hail was reported in other parts of  western KS.

Crews were called to a serious traffic accident in southeast Wichita as the storms moved through.   Someone was pinned in a vehicle in the 2100 block of South Oliver.  One person was reported to have critical injuries.
