A former Wichita teacher has been sentenced to almost six years in prison for child sex crimes.

Prosecutors said 33-year-old Christin Covel was convicted on two counts of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child.  She was arrested in January.  She will serve consecutive terms of two years and ten months for the two counts.

Covel, a former teacher at Mead Middle School, was accused of unlawful sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl in incidents that happened in 2018 and 2019.   Officials said the allegations were not revealed until 2021.   Covel was arrested in Tulsa and brought back to Wichita to face charges.
