A 52-year-old Wichita man is accused of stealing an Amazon delivery van.
The van was stolen June 1, in downtown Wichita, near Topeka and Elm. Wichita Police Captain Slaughter was in the area and quickly found the van. He tried to stop it which led to a short chase. It was called off when police learned the van had a GPS tracker.
Thanks to the GPS, the van was easily tracked to an east Wichita neighborhood near Kellogg and Oliver. Captain Slaughter spotted the suspect carrying a large package away from the van and he was arrested.
The suspect is facing charges of felony theft, burglary to auto, possession of methamphetamine, and felony evade and elude.
