Augusta man charged in fatal crash near Derby

An Augusta man has been charged in connection with a crash in Sedgwick County that killed two people during the Memorial Day weekend.

Charges have been filed against 19-year-old Jimmy Guinn III in connection with a crash involving three pickups near 63rd Street South and 103rd Street East, near Derby.

One of the pickups was hit head-on, killing 20-year-old Alyna Elder of Rose Hill and 19-year-old Nathaniel Ashworth of Wichita.

Andover police said they were chasing a stolen pickup into Sedgwick County before the crash occurred.

Guinn is charged with two counts of first degree murder, with alternative charges of second degree murder.   He is also charged with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer with an alternative count of flee and elude, and one count of theft.   His bond was set at $500,000 and attorneys will talk about the case on June 15th.
