A man who served time for a 1984 murder has been sentenced for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl he was babysitting in Wichita.

A judge handed down a sentence of more than 21 years in prison for 60-year-old Clifford Cox, who pleaded guilty in March to aggravated kidnapping and three counts of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child.   Cox was arrested in Wichita in 2018 after a man reported that his daughter may have been sexually assaulted several times by a babysitter.

Cox was sentenced to 253 months in prison and lifetime post release supervision.

Cox served time for a 1984 murder in Cowley County.  He was paroled in 2006.
