A retired Wichita police captain has appeared in court on felony charges.

Court officials say former Wichita PD Captain Wendell Nicholson was hit with eight felony charges after he allegedly exceeded the limits of his authority to “damage, modify, alter, destroy, copy, disclose or take possession of a department computer, computer system, computer network, or other property” last fall.

Prosecutors say it is not clear whether Nicholson shared any information he allegedly gathered while reviewing department records.  He is out on bond and he is due back in court on May 25th.
