Someone fired shots in a Wichita neighborhood Sunday night, hurting an adult and child. Police say they have a person of interest in the case.
Police lieutenant Steve Thornton said officers were investigating a domestic incident when they heard around ten shots. They went to a home in the 100 block of South Mt. Carmel, near Douglas and Meridian. They found a 6-year-old girl with an injury from shrapnel from the shots that were fired. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries to her right arm. Thornton said an adult was found at the scene who had a medical problem, but that was not related to the shooting. Another home in the area was hit by gunfire, but no injuries were reported.
Thornton said a person of interest has been identified, and that person is known to the people who were at the shooting scene.
