The Barton County Sheriff’s Office tracked down a man accused of using fake checks and ID’s at local businesses.
The search for 65-year-old Roger Kornegay began in February after multiple reports that he had defrauded area businesses, making several high-end purchases at various farm stores, implement dealers, and parts houses.
Kornegay, a North Carolina resident, was arrested on Tuesday in Oberlin.
Investigators said he used up to 25 different ID’s, all of which he had checks for. He would make multiple purchases and skip town.
The Barton County Sheriff’s office said one of Kornegay’s stops was at BTI Equipment in Great Bend, we he made over $11,000 in fraudulent purchases.
