On Thursday, March 23rd the American Red Cross is partnering with Meals on Wheels and Wichita Fire Department to bring free home fire safety information and inquire about working smoke alarms in homes during meal deliveries.

The event will take place at Senior Services of Wichita (200 South Walnut) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday. Local board members will also participate in the event, delivering meals to over 850 seniors.

The goal of the partnership is to prioritize the safety of residents and ensure each person has access to lifesaving devices.

Home fires claim seven lives each day in the United States. To help prevent fire tragedies, the Red Cross launched the Home Fire Campaign with community partners in 2014. Working smoke alarms save lives and can cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half.
