Police said a 13-year-old girl reported that she was approached by a man who tried to get her to walk up to his car early Thursday morning.
The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. Thursday near Douglas and West Street. The girl told her mother that the man drove up as she was walking to school, but she ignored the man and continued walking. She later told her mother about the incident, and the mother contacted police.
Investigators said this incident is not believed to be connected to the two kidnapping incidents that were reported in east Wichita on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. A 21-year-old man was arrested for those incidents.
The school district has been notified of the incident at Douglas and West, and police have assigned extra patrols to the area. The suspect was driving a blue or green sedan. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Wichita Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 267-2111.
