Preliminary estimates from the Kansas Department of Labor showed no change in the state’s unemployment rate for November.
The rate was 2.8 percent, compared to 2.8 percent in October and 2.8 percent a year ago. Kansas Labor Secretary Amber Schultz said there was little change in the labor force during November.
Total nonfarm payroll employment in Kansas was down by 400 jobs from October. Private sector jobs decreased by 1,000, but government had an increase of 600 jobs. Labor economist Emilie Doerksen said there was a small decline over the month of November, but because of strong growth in October and gains earlier this year, the current estimates are 2.7 percent higher than last November.
