The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is working with local officials after a woman was found dead at a rural home in southeast Kansas, and the case is being investigated as a homicide.
The KBI said deputies from the Neosho County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home near Chanute on Tuesday afternoon. They found the body of 47-year-old Elaina Asprea. She was found next to a field near the home. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
A person of interest has been taken into custody. The KBI said Asprea’s 37-year-old boyfriend was arrested in Fayetteville, North Carolina on Monday for unrelated charges.
