A program that provides groceries and safety checks to seniors in Wichita is at risk of closing.

Officials with Senior Services of Wichita says that unless $50,000 can be raised by December 15th, its Roving Pantry that provides needed assistance to homebound seniors may be forced to close.

The program shops for groceries, delivers them, and puts them away for homebound seniors age 60 and older. The service is set to end on Thursday, December 29th. The $50,000 goal would provide funding to sustain the Roving Pantry program through 2023.

Officials cite a lack of public and private funding as the reasons for the Roving Pantry Program closing.
