Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab is warning voters to watch out for text messages that contain election misinformation.

In a press release Monday, Schwab said the messages appear to be from an out-of-state organization called Voting Futures, and they often direct voters to an incorrect polling location in their county.

Schwab said voters should be on high alert for these messages.  He said his office does not use third parties to contact voters or share election information.   He said state and local election officials are the trusted sources for election information.

Schwab is encouraging voters to confirm their polling place and preview their ballot before going to the polls.  Election information can be found on the Secretary of State’s election website, VoteKansas.gov

Voters can also call the Elections Division at 785-296-4561 if they have questions.
