Charges of first degree murder and child abuse have been filed against a Wichita man for the July death of his one-year-old son.
25-year-old Kentrell Willingham was charged with first degree murder and an alternative count of first degree murder, based on different theories regarding the death of one-year-old Lasiah Williams. Willingham has also been charged with child abuse and aggravated endangering a child.
Prosecutors said Willingham and his girlfriend had been looking after the boy for several days, then they turned him over to a family member and legal guardian on July 28th. A short time later, the boy became unresponsive and he died at a hospital.
The girlfriend, 25-year-old Xjohnna Hannah, has also been charged with murder, child abuse and child endangerment. They are scheduled to be back in court on August 29th. They were released on bonds of $250,000.
