Rain and storms moved into the Wichita area Thursday evening, and the rain was expected to change over to snow early Friday.
Snow accumulation is not expected to be a major concern, and strong storms are not expected either. Although heavy wet snow is possible, overnight temperatures should stay above freezing.
Heavier snow is possible west of Salina, with 2 to 5-inches of accumulation possible. A Winter Storm Watch will be in place overnight for Russell, Lincoln, Barton, Ellsworth, and Rice County. Reno, McPherson, and Saline County will be under a winter weather Advisory. These are set to expire by 9 a.m. Friday.
Warmer weather and high winds are back in the forecast over the weekend, and the fire danger will be higher by Sunday.
