SkyWest Airlines to discontinue service to four Kansas cities

SkyWest Airlines has announced plans to end service at 29 U.S. airports by this summer.   The list includes four Kansas cities; Salina, Hays, Liberal and Dodge City.

The airline is blaming a pilot shortage and rising fuel prices for the decision to end Essential Air Service at smaller airports.

Kansas Senator Roger Marshall issued a statement in response, saying “During my time in office, I been a vocal proponent of our community airports and the Essential Air Service program. My office has been in touch with city officials and the Federal Aviation Administration about this issue. We will do everything we can to ensure a continuation of service at the airport.”
