A 51-year-old man is in jail for last week’s car theft from the Pawnee and Broadway Walmart.
There was an 11-month-old child in the car when it was taken. The child’s mother contacted two off-duty officers and the car was found about a mile and half to the north, near Zimmerly and Emporia. The car had been left in a parking lot and the child was still inside.
Through social media posts and follow-up work, a suspect was identified and found in the 200 block of South Poplar. He has been booked for theft and child endangerment. A woman at the home where the suspect was found was also arrested for obstructing apprehension of a felon.
