Rain, sleet and snow reported across central, south central Kansas

A mix of rain, sleet and snow fell across parts of Kansas after a cold front moved through the state and dropped temperatures from the upper 70s on Saturday into the 30s on Sunday.

Sleet was covering some streets in Wichita, creating icy and slushy driving conditions.   Traffic was backed up on westbound Kellogg with an accident near Washington around 4 p.m. Sunday.   There were reports of a number of accidents and slide-offs in the Wichita area through the afternoon.   The National Weather Service office in Wichita reported freezing rain with a tenth of an inch of ice on trees and branches.

Snow was falling in central and northeast Kansas with snow-covered streets and slick driving conditions on Interstate 70.  There were reports of 3 to 4 inches of snow in north central Kansas.

Most streets and roadways in the Wichita area were clear with some slick spots early Monday.
