Numbers continue to fall for new COVID-19 case rates

Numbers continue to fall for new COVID-19 case rates

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported an additional 479 cases of COVID-19 from the weekend, with nine new deaths.   The numbers reflect a continuing decline in the number of new cases statewide.

The state has reported a total of 766,045 cases for the pandemic, with 7,946 deaths.     There are 3,107 cases of the omicron variant, with 370 cases reported in Sedgwick County.

The Sedgwick County Health Department reported 34 new cases on Monday, with a total of 110,865 for the pandemic.   No new deaths were reported, and the county has a total of 999 deaths.   The positive testing rate has dropped to 4 percent.

Wichita hospitals reported 90 patients on Monday, with 27 in the intensive care unit.   That is down from 98 patients and 29 in intensive care the previous week.  Both Wesley Medical Center and Ascension Via Christi remain in a cautious status, and they are still in contingency operations.
