Evergy announced that several customer reports have come in regarding individuals making phone calls and calling themselves “Clean Energy” or “Clean Energy Utility.”
They claim to be working with Evergy, telling customers that Evergy will be asking them to reduce their energy use during winter weather and cold temperatures; adding that they will provide free advice and technology to help when Evergy calls on them.
The company said in a news release this week that “Clean Energy/Clean Energy Utilities” is not a partner program of Evergy’s. Officials also stated that electricity shortages are not expected during this cold spell.
If you receive a call like this, you are encouraged to reach out to the Customer Contact Center. Anyone calling claiming to be with Evergy must also provide their ID number when asked.
