WSU COVID Testing Site Closed Due to Staff Shortages, Hopes to Reopen Soon

WSU’s drive-thru COVID testing site at 4174 S. Oliver closed on Wednesday, Jan. 12th.

Tonya Witherspoon, executive director of the Molecular Diagnostics Lab, says she is unsure when test collection will reopen but hopes it will be soon.

“We are short staffed at the moment and have to make a decision as to what we need to prioritize,” she says. “The No. 1 thing we have to focus on right now is processing thousands of tests every day for our health care workers and collection partners while continuing to provide 24-hour turnaround test results.”
