Sedgwick County Health Dept. Offering Pfizer Booster for People 16 & Older

No-cost Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine boosters for people 16 years and older are now being administered by Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD). Boosters are available at SCHD’s community vaccine clinic at 223 S. Main (former downtown Wichita library) and its mobile vaccine clinics.

The FDA, CDC and KDHE authorized Pfizer boosters for the 16- and 17-year-old age group on Dec. 9th. The agencies had approved boosters for all fully vaccinated adults 18 and older in mid-November.

The expanded eligibility applies only to 16- and 17-year-olds who received a second dose of Pfizer vaccine at least six months ago. Boosters are not yet authorized for members of this age group who initially received Moderna or Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccines. People who are 18 years and older can receive Pfizer or J&J vaccine boosters from SCHD.

SCHD requires consent from a parent or guardian for anyone under age 18 to receive vaccine.

No appointments are necessary at SCHD’s community vaccine clinic or its mobile vaccination clinics. For more information on hours and locations, click here.
