Suspect in Wichita shooting released

The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office reports a 28-year-old Wichita man has been released from jail as an investigation continues into the death of his roommate.

The man was arrested Tuesday, November 16th, after a shooting in the 2800 block of West Maple.   Police said the victim, 27-year-old Matthew Rodriguez of Wichita, made suicidal statements and then shot himself.  Police said the suspect then took the gun and shot Rodriguez two more times.

The suspect was booked for first degree murder, but the District Attorney’s Office said more investigative work is being done.
