The Kansas Turnpike Authority has identified the truck driver who was killed when his semi struck another semi in south Wichita.
60-year-old Darwin Dammann of Avoca, Iowa was killed in the crash on October 23rd. KTA troopers said Dammann was driving south on the Turnpike near Pawnee. His semi struck another semi from behind, and he was ejected from the cab.
Troopers said the other semi was having mechanical trouble and was driving at a slow rate of speed on the outside lane and outside shoulder. The semi was trying to move onto the outside shoulder when it was hit. The driver, a 34-year-old man from Denver, Colorado, was taken to a hospital but his injuries were not reported to be serious.
