Wichita police took a man into custody after a fire was set in the basement of a home near 13th and Maize Road.
The fire was reported around 1 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of North Lark, and crews found a man in the front yard waving a gun around. Police officers from Wichita and Maize and Sedgwick County deputies were called to the scene.
Crews got the fire out quickly and damage was minor. The man was taken to a hospital in serious condition with smoke inhalation. Two other people in the house were not hurt.
