Kansas health officials suspend license for Wichita child care center

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has suspended the license of a west Wichita child care center, citing a number of violations .

The order was issued for We R Kids at 10,221 West 13th Street.    KDHE officials said the violations were uncovered by a complaint survey that was conducted.

The KDHE said a staff member taped a child’s shoes to her feet so the child could not remove the shoes, and that did not demonstrate sound judgment and an understanding of children.   Other violations involved leaving a five-week-old infant sleeping in a bouncer and not in a crib or playpen.     The survey also found that a staff member was told to come to work even though the worker had a doctor’s note excusing absence from work.

The order is subject to appeal.
