Wichita police chief named as finalist for Texas job

Wichita police chief Gordon Ramsay is one of seven finalists for the police chief position in Austin, Texas.

The finalists were announced Monday by Austin City Manager Spencer Cronk.

The finalists include Austin’s interim chief Joseph Chacon; Deputy Police Chief Celeste Murphy in Atlanta; Mirtha Ramos, Chief of the DeKalb County Police Department in Georgia; Anne Kirkpatrick, national instructor for the FBI; Avery Moore, assistant chief with the Dallas Police Department; and Emada Tingrides, Deputy Chief with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Cronk said he hopes to have a new police chief named by the end of August.
