Resident Encouraged to Help Select Name for District 6 Community Center

Residents are being asked to help choose a name for the new community center that is under construction at what is currently the Evergreen Branch Library at 2601 North Arkansas.

Naming recommendations for the community center were submitted earlier this year by residents. The Library Board of Directors is serving as the Naming Advisory Committee for the project, and have narrowed down the recommendations to these top choices:

  • El Norte (which translates to “The North” in Spanish–the community center is located in the historic North End)
  • Arteaga (for Cirilo Arteaga, a community member who created a recreation center in the El Pueblo neighborhood)
  • El Pueblo (translates to “The Village” in Spanish–the community center is located in the El Pueblo neighborhood of the North End)
  • Evergreen (the current name of the library and neighborhood resource center; exemplifies the idea of “Always Growing”)
  • Adelante (Translates to “Go Ahead” in Spanish, the resources and services provided in the community center will advance North End residents)

Residents can participate in the voting survey on the final choices by clicking here.
