The Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) announced the arrest of 82 individuals as the result of an operation that took place from June 17th through June 26th related to sex trafficking in Wichita, Kansas City, and Independence, Missouri.
The individuals arrested are facing charges related to soliciting prostitution, commercial sex trafficking, sodomy, and sex offender registry violations among several others.
The HSI said that a total of 31 victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation were rescued, 14 were missing children. The youngest of which was 4 years old. 17 of the rescued victims were adults.
HSI Kansas City conducted the operation alongside HSI Wichita, Wichita Police Department, The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Highway Patrol, Independence Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff, the Hutchinson Police Department and others.
