Fireworks are now on sale in Wichita, and the Wichita Fire Department wants residents to know the city rules as Fourth of July celebrations begin.

  • Fireworks are allowed to be shot off within city limits from June 27th to July 5th from 10 a.m. to midnight daily.
  • Only fireworks that have been tested and approved by the Wichita Fire Dept. are allowed to be shot within the Wichita city limits.
  • No sparks higher than 6 feet.
  • No fireworks labeled as shooting flaming balls allowed

The Fire Dept. says that there will be heightened enforcement of these rules and regulations, which includes citations up to $250 (plus court fees) for violations in addition to the confiscation of illegal fireworks.

Adults can be held responsible and cited for juveniles violating ordinances, as well as property owners or occupants for ordinance violations on their property.
