Blood Donations for Cancer Patients Resume, Wichitans Strongly Encouraged to Donate

The American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society have partnered for the month of June to encourage people to take part in the “Give Blood, Give Time” campaign, to help ensure cancer patients have the support they need as they undergo treatment.

According to the American Cancer Society, many patient visits and procedures were either delayed or cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that procedures are beginning to resume, blood donations are critical for cancer treatments. The Red Cross has been seeing fewer blood and platelet donations amidst strong demand for blood products by hospitals.

The Red Cross has an emergency need for eligible donors in the Wichita area to make appointment to donate.

Below are the upcoming blood drive opportunities:

Wichita Blood Drive Donation Center (707 N. Main St.) – Monday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m./Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Wichita:

  • 6/12/2021: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at GraceFirst Church, 14725 E. Harry
  • 6/13/2021: 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at GracePoint Church, 9035 W. Central
  • 6/14/2021: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 3130 N. Amidon
  • 6/15/2021: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph, 3600 E. Harry
