Wichita Police Department staff were presented with multiple awards on Monday for their in-depth investigation into a serial shooter from last year.
The Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives presented awards to WPD staff along with members of the Wichita ATF Field Office, and Wichita State University.
An investigation into shooting incidents that occurred on June 23rd and June 27th of 2020 were linked to 31 year old Isaac Pile of Wichita after he was arrested on July 4th for refusing to leave an establishment in the 100 block of North Moseley. Pile had a gun in his possession at the time, and through the thorough work of WPD staff, the gun was discovered to be connected to the June shootings that injured 4 people.
Pile later pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated battery.
