Driver injured in west Wichita crash after chase with police

A 23-year-old Wichita man was seriously injured late Tuesday night in a crash that the Kansas Highway Patrol reported was the result of a police chase.

The Patrol said a car was going west on Kellogg, and the driver was going too fast for conditions when he tried to take an exit to southbound I-235.  The car went off the roadway and hit a bridge pillar.

The driver was taken to a hospital.  Police and KHP troopers were on the scene for hours after the crash.

Police said they were called to a domestic violence incident at a home in the 300 block of North Nevada, with a report of a disturbance involving a weapon.  The victim was able to get out of the home, but the suspect also left and got into a car, leading officers on a chase.
