Kansas corrections officials said Friday an inmate has died at the El Dorado Correctional Facility, and a preliminary assessment found the death is not related to COVID-19.
Ryan Mitchell was serving a 176-month sentence for intent to distribute and a weapons charge. He had been in the prison system since October, 2018.
Corrections officials and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation will look into the death, and an autopsy will be conducted.
