Pfizer intends to double the weekly amount of COVID-19 vaccines for the United States, and announced this week that it is expanding manufacturing to a plant in the McPherson area in its effort to increase production output.
Pfizer plans to make near 120 million doses by the end of March, and will utilize the McPherson plant to reach that goal.
However, the actual vaccine will not be produced at the McPherson plant, but Pfizer says the facility will be crucial in increasing the country’s supply as a fill-finish line–which is the final stage of production where doses are placed in vials, packed, and shipped.
