Kansas labor officials warn of phishing scam

The Kansas Department of Labor is warning about a phishing attempt that is being made on mobile devices.

People have been receiving a test stating there is an error in their unemployment claim, and it contains a link.   People who have filed claims should not click on the link, and if they have, they should log into their GetKansasBenefits.gov portal from a secure device and make sure their login and bank account information has not been changed.  She should also change their password as a precaution.

KDOL said it will never ask for a full Social Security number by text message or email.   The agency is working with law enforcement to investigate the scam.

Kansas has reported an increase in identity theft cases related to unemployment claims.  Anyone who has been a victim should report it to www.ReportFraud.ks.gov
