Governor Kelly announced Monday that she has signed an Executive Order providing relief from the waiting week requirement for Kansas residents applying for unemployment benefits.
She said that Kansans can no longer afford to wait to receive benefits and should have access to them as soon as possible.
The “Waiting Week” is the mandatory non-payable week that generally needs to be served on new benefit years. Kelly’s Executive Order will temporarily waive the waiting week that is required for all new applicants.
The order is currently in effect and will remain so until it is rescinded, or the current State of Disaster emergency declaration expires.
