Kansas has passed the 2,000 mark for deaths from COVID-19, and Governor Laura Kelly has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff through Monday, December 14th to honor the victims.

The governor issued a statement saying “While COVID-19 has impacted each Kansas community differently, we all share this collective loss of our family, friends, and neighbors. We can all honor their memory by protecting each other and working together to slow the spread of this virus.”

Kansas reported a total of 185,294 cases on Friday, with 2,072 deaths.    Sedgwick County reported a total of 27,293 cases for the pandemic, an increase of 336 cases as of Friday. No new deaths were reported so the county’s total remains at 199.   The positive testing rate is 17.8 percent.    Reno County has reported 72 deaths from coronavirus, with 15 deaths reported in the past seven days.
