A group of Wichita State University students has gone beyond its goal for raising food and necessities for families in need.

Business Management students have been working during the fall under the name Addressing Local Necessities, and they have been collecting food and basic hygiene items.  Spokesman Justin Campbell said in an email release Monday that the drive had collected 5,056 items and dollars to support the Kansas Food Bank and the group Giving The Basics Wichita.

Campbell said the group still has a GoFundMe page for Giving The Basics that will be running through the end of the year.   He said the group will also reach out to next year’s students to encourage them to continue the drive in future years.
