Harvey County health officials have confirmed a cluster of COVID-19 cases at Newton High School, with five students who have tested positive.
Health officials are investigating to see if there is any known source of exposure. The five students are in home isolation, and people who are close contacts have been notified and they are in quarantine.
Newton High School has been in a hybrid learning model that will continue through November 13th. USD 373 Superintendent Fred Van Ranken said the district is working with the Harvey County Health Department on contact tracing. The district has taken safety precautions that include a face mask requirement, routine and additional cleaning of high-touch areas, temperature checks and social distancing when possible.
