Roger Marshall wins Senate race in Kansas

Roger Marshall will move from the House of Representatives to the U.S. Senate after Tuesday’s general election.  The 1st District congressman captured 53 percent of the vote to win over Democrat Barbara Bollier.

Marshall will take the seat being vacated with the retirement of Pat Roberts.   Speaking to his supporters Tuesday night, Marshall said he wants to work for all Kansans and work to end the division and the fighting between Republicans and Democrats.    He said “We’re going to fight to find the path forward that all Americans can walk together.”

Marshall said he will fight to keep families safe, bring jobs back and protect the economy, and protect Kansas values.

(From the Associated Press) The race attracted a flood of money from outside Kansas. Bollier raised more than $25 million for her campaign to set a Kansas record, while Marshall raised $6.5 million. Outside groups were set to spend another $41 million on advertising. Republicans have won every Senate race in Kansas since 1932.
