The Kansas Department of Corrections reports an Ellsworth inmate who died Monday tested positive for COVID-19.
This is the sixth inmate death tied to the virus. The inmate is identified as a man in his 60’s, who originally tested positive on September 26. He was moved to Lansing after the test came back, and was taken to a hospital a few days later. A statement from the KDOC says this man had other medical issues that contributed to his death.
Family of this inmate do not want his name released. He’d been serving a life sentence for sex crime convictions in Wyandotte County.
