A 33-year-old Wichita man has been charged with 19 counts for crimes that have been reported in recent weeks, along with charges related to a seven-hour standoff with police.
Patrick Newborn made his first appearance Monday in Sedgwick County district court. His bond was set at $250,000 and his next court appearance is scheduled for October 1st.
Newborn is accused of robbing a couple on August 29th in the 6100 block of East Boston, and one of the victims accused him of a sexual assault that occurred a couple of weeks earlier. Newborn is also accused of breaking into a home on South Pershing on September 12th and sexually assaulting a 32-year-old woman in the home.
The charges filed against Newborn include aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, rape, aggravated assault and interference with a law enforcement officer. He was arrested early on September 16th after a seven-hour standoff at an apartment complex near Harry and Webb Road.
