A Wichita woman was killed when her car collided with a semi late Friday afternoon in northwest Wichita.
The accident happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Interstate 235 near Zoo Boulevard. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a southbound pickup swerved to avoid rear-ending other vehicles, and it sideswiped a semi. The semi then hit a guardrail and went into the northbound lanes, where it was hit by two vehicles.
24-year-old Haley Habiger was driving one of the vehicles that hit the semi, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in her car were taken to a hospital with injuries. The two people in the other car that struck the semi were not hurt. The 51-year-old Wichita man driving the pickup and the 60-year-old Missouri man driving the semi also escaped injury.
The accident closed traffic on I-235 for several hours.
