Governor Kelly said Monday she is issuing a new moratorium on evictions and foreclosures related to the coronavirus pandemic.
The governor said Congress has not taken action on a new relief package, and the pandemic is still devastating to communities and preventing people from working. She said “No Kansan should be kicked out of their home during this pandemic. That’s just wrong.”
The governor said she knows that landlords are also facing hardship because they have been unable to collect rent, so she is looking at options to support them. She said the executive order will be in effect for two weeks, and if Congress has not enacted a new stimulus package by then, she will extend the moratorium.
