Salvation Army cancels annual breakfast event

The Salvation Army in Wichita has canceled its annual Community Leadership Breakfast, which was scheduled for September 16th at the Century II Exhibition Hall.

In a press release, the organization said the event was canceled because of concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic and the high vulnerability of the people who would be attending the breakfast event.

An online streaming presentation will be held on September 16th on the Salvation Army website and social media.   The event will still feature guest speaker Don Meers, the Kansas City Chiefs Wolf mascot, and it will have a number of other features including a tribute to longtime supporter Martha Buford.

The Salvation Army says its work will continue to serve families with basic needs, healthy foods, school supplies, winter clothing, shelter, utility assistance and spiritual support.
