Organizers of the annual Wichita Open golf tournament announced Tuesday that this year’s event will be played without spectators because of the changing situation with the coronavirus pandemic.
The Korn Ferry Tour tournament has been held each year at Crestview Country Club since 2001. It will be played September 24th through the 27th.
Tournament director Roy Turner said in a press release that after many hours of discussion and research, the PGA Tour and the Wichita Open have decided to make changes. The event will be played without spectators and all Pro-ams and golf events will take place as scheduled.
The tournament will work with the PGA Tour and local, state and federal officials to protect health and safety of the people who will be allowed onsite during tournament week. Organizers will contact all sponsors with regard to their support and plans for the future.
Next year’s Wichita Open has been scheduled for June 14-20.
